FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why we think this is good

Being a physician should be about caring for patients and their families. The last thing a physician needs to worry about is the everyday hassles of a medical office practice. Handling the employee issues in any physician practice or office setting is very time consuming. Our services provide relief from the daily rigors associated with employment restrictions, laws, regulations that take time away from the practice. Using the benefit purchase power of a larger organization allows your to  decrease the cost of benefits, hire better people and become more competitive. Delegating this to CPS gives the doctors more time to do what they do best…..take care of the patients.

Why use a PEO or Professional Employer Organization for Human Resources

Comprehensive Physician Services is a PEO. PEO’s or Employee Leasing companies enter into  contractual relationships with client employers for the purpose of co-employing the client’s workforce. A PEO offers a cost effective way to manage payroll administration, human resources and provide affordable employee benefits. We partner with individual client employers in a team approach to provide a cost effective and shared employment arrangement. CPS assumes the responsibility and liability for the business of employment such as personnel management, labor law compliance, benefit management, human resource compliance, state and federal payroll taxes, workers' compensation and unemployment insurance and other employee-related issues.

Common misconceptions: Will I lose control?

Once the client contracts with the PEO they will co-employ the work force. The PEO and client work together as a team and the client remains in CONTROL. There exists a mutual relationship whereby the PEO and employer client share responsibility. The PEO assumes responsibility and liability for the business of employment. The PEO reserves the right and direction and control of the employees in the performance of services, however the client will retain sufficient direction and control over the employee in order to conduct business. The client employer retains responsibility and management of the employee and daily operations. The client will hire, fire and set the wages.

What makes a successful relationship between a medical office practice and a billing service?

A successful relationship is built upon teamwork and an understanding that the physician office is a large component of the billing equation. The front office who collects the patient demographics and insurance, the nurse who makes sure any required pre-certification information is obtained, the physician who generates the charge and the check out person who makes sure all necessary coding is included with the charge are all links in the billing chain.

How do I know what is going on with my billing??

  1. CPS and the practice manager and/or physician meet monthly/quarterly to review the state of accounts receivable.

  2. The lines of communication remain open at all times.
